PINOT GRIS (Grauburgunder) Pfalz
Exhibitor
Altes Schloesschen – Ludwig Schneider GmbH
The white grape variety descended from Pinot Noir is known internationally as Pinot Gris or Pinot Grigio. It is now cultivated worldwide, with larger plantings in France and Italy. In Germany, approximately 6,200 hectares are planted with Pinot Gris, half of which is located in Rhineland-Palatinate.
The nose of Pinot Gris is floral, and the bouquet reveals aromas of pineapple, melon, dried fruit, and herbs. On the palate, a subtle nutty note of almond lingers. The Springer Pinot Gris is very soft and rounded with mild, well-integrated acidity and a long, fresh finish. An uncomplicated wine for all occasions.
Food pairing: Baguette with sliced roast beef and green mustard. A creamy carbonara with spaghetti and Parmesan. It also pairs very well with poultry, fish, and mature soft cheeses with fig mustard.
