About us

OUR STORY - this is the new Baden, defined by salinity, structure, and vibrancy.

Through biodynamic farming, we let living soils speak – limestone, loess, gypsum marl, and clay marl forming the backbone of our wines. The fruit remains restrained, balancing pure juiciness with lean minerality and a crisp, focused freshness. Founded in 1983 as a half-hectare garage project in Bruchsal near Heidelberg, the estate has grown into one of Germany’s Top 100 wineries, today farming 42 hectares of vineyards. As specialists in Burgundy varieties, we craft precise, character-driven wines shaped by distinctive soils and a microclimate ideally suited to these grapes.

Since taking over in 2004, we — Andreas and Markus — have combined international experience with a single ambition: to make the best vintage of our lives, every year. Our wines are now poured in more than 3,000 restaurants, including 250 Michelin-starred venues, and enjoyed in 24 countries worldwide.

Curiosity, consistency and genuine sustainability define our work — organic since 1996, biodynamic since 2020. All wines ferment spontaneously and are given exactly the time they need to develop at their own pace. Everything we do is uncompromising — so that our passion is unmistakable in every glass.

SINGLE VINEYARD WINES
ROTHENBERG – gypsum marl | KIRCHBERG – loess | WEIHERBERG – shell limestone | HIMMELREICH – clay marl

Uncompromising in quality, uncompromising in brilliance — a vibrant kaleidoscope defined by site. These are fruits of stone, profound and precise, capturing origin at the root: rare soil diversity, the energy of core parcels, and the deep, concentrated juice of vines up to 60 years old. A Baden for the curious — for explorers — revealing an unexpected profile with bold purity. Pure luxury lies in selecting the ideal soil for each variety, nothing less.

White wines ferment in 500-litre tonneaux and rest on full lees for 10–12 months.

Red wines mature for 18 months in barrique following cold maceration and fermentation.

VILLAGE WINES
Sensual elegance and transparency; fruit and minerality; generous texture with a cool, stony core. Easy-going and relaxed on the palate, subtly influenced by oak, sourced from vines aged 20 to 35 years.Exceptionally drinkable and naturally fresh, balanced yet vibrant, with unmistakable character.

You taste the grape — but also the marl, gypsum marl, limestone and loess. The silken skin of Burgundy.Village wines bridge the gap between Estate and Single Vineyard wines, already revealing a strong sense of terroir and individuality.

White wines ferment spontaneously, mostly in used 500-litre tonneaux, with 7–9 months on full lees.

Pinot Noir matures for 17 months in barrique.

ESTATE WINES
Refreshingly different. Refreshingly delicate. Rare in substance. Estate wines of a new generation.

Beautifully streamlined, yet packed with pure fruit expression — true drinking wines with surprising depth and tension. A dynamic arc of aromas and flavors that irresistibly invites the next sip.

Estate wines mature for 6 months in stainless steel, with up to 25% aged in tonneau

2025 Pinot Blanc ESTATE - biodynamic

As elegant as it is self-assured. Burgundian in substance, rich in finesse, and above all pure, fruit-fresh drinking pleasure. Presented with uncompising sensitivity: delicately creamy, finely juicy, packed with ripe aromas of candied citrus, stone fruit, apples, and melon. A succulent melt, whispers of apricot, and irresistibly smooth enjoyment shaped by limestone and sandstone soils. Wonderfully unpretentious — and excitingly delicious. Everyday luxury!

2024 Chardonnay "Muschelkalk" VILLAGE - biodynamic

Limestone provides the kick in this cool, finely balanced expression. For all its creaminess, it remains taut, precise, racy — exemplary in its focus on what truly matters: the taste of the soil. A saline, velvety thread runs through to a gently piquant, finely tuned interplay of acidity that keeps the aromas lingering longer and tasting fresher: lemon balm, yellow exotic fruits, brioche, and toasted spice. Muschelkalk stands confidently apart from the mainstream.

2022 Chardonnay Kirchberg SINGLE VINEYARD - biodynamic

Mouthfilling, flinty, juicy — and yet: fresh, saline, cool. Carried by a stony, gently austere minerality that nobly and purely balances the subtle sweetness of wood and fruit. A spicy bouquet, yellow-fleshed aromatics, a delicate hint of citrus, and flashes of smoky flint. A lively, piquant interplay of acidity lending race and length. Effortless — and deeply relaxed.

2024 Pinot Noir "Gipskeuper" VILLAGE - biodynamic

Gypsum Keuper makes its mark. Earthbound and expressive. Raised with mineral intensity and crafted with minimal intervention. Oak supports the super-juicy blackberry fruit, playing alongside notes of black cherry and cassis. Cool herbal spice balances its inherent power. Silky richness meets stony austerity, opulence meets demanding finesse — as distinctive as it is mouthfilling!

2022 Pinot Noir Rothenberg SINGLE VINEYARD - biodynamic

56-year-old vines, compact gypsum keuper and clay, the lowest yields: the ultimate fruits of stone. Like woolly mammoths, the vines draw minerals from the compacted soil. Pointed fruit sweetness, profound minerality, and present roasted notes flow seamlessly into one another. An immensely dense, long-lived expression with notes of black cherry, plum, chocolate, tobacco, dried herbs, and a gentle peppery spice. Full of juice and power, yet velvety and stony — blessed with the inner calm of ancient vines.
